I deleted photos and my storage did not change

iOS keeps deleted photos in Recently Deleted for 30 days and releases the space only when that album is emptied. Open Photos, then Albums, scroll to Recently Deleted, unlock it, tap Select, then Delete All. The app's result screen has a button that takes you there.

The figure the app showed is smaller than I expected

If your library is optimised for iCloud, the full-size originals live in iCloud and your phone holds smaller copies. Deleting returns only the local size. The app reports what your phone actually gives back rather than the size of the originals.

The app says it is showing only the photos I chose

You granted access to a selection rather than the whole library. Tap Choose more on the Sort screen to widen the selection, or open Settings, Photo Genie, Photos and choose Full Access.

I tossed a photo by mistake

Nothing is deleted until you confirm on the Space tab. Swipe down on a tossed photo to bring it back, or tap it and choose Restore. If you already confirmed, the photo is in Recently Deleted in Photos for 30 days and can be recovered there.

What are folders?

Folders are albums in your Photos library. Dropping a photo on a folder moves it into that album. A photo lives in one folder at a time, so filing it somewhere else moves it. Tap a folder to page through what is inside.

Some photos will not delete

iOS blocks apps from deleting photos synced from a computer or added from a shared album. The result screen tells you how many stayed and why. Those can be removed inside Photos.

A video would not play

Videos stored in iCloud have to download first. Give it a moment and tap play again.

Where is my data kept?

On your phone. The app has no server, no account and no analytics. The privacy policy has the detail.
